Lets talk about the different subjects I mentioned in the previous post.

The topics are Plants, Gaming, Technology, AI, Science, Fallacies, Misinformation, Reviews, Recipes.

Lets go over each one and what I am envisioning them to be.

Plants.

I’m not plant crazy so I dont have a lot of information to give you on plants. But I enjoy taking care of the ones I have. I grow them indoors or in containers. Today I translplanted an indoor Senseria, also known as mother in laws tounge or snake plant. It is kind of large and was getting to top heavy for its pot so I transplanted it into a bigger pot to give it some weight so it wouldnt tip over. It was also growing to the side of the original pot so I recentered the plant in the new pot so it was in the center along with the new shoots its putting out. I make my own soil, but Im not really caring how accurate it is, I put some garden lime, worm casings, blood meal, charcoal, vermiculite, orchid bark plantin medium, sphagnum moss and two types of potting soil (I dont really care what potting soil, usually buy the miracle grow one at a hardware store, but I tend to use ones designed for houseplants or tropical plants). I used two types because one bag ran out. I grow my plants using grow lights because I dont have adequate window light and grow lights allow me to put my plants every where. This snake plant’s longest leaf blade is 4 to 5 feet tall and was entirely grown with grow lights.

Gaming.

I have been a gamer for a long time. If you are reading this after I post it there is a good chance that I was gaming before you were born. What kinds of games? Well I like boardgames, miniature games (to a certain extent), RPGs, and pc games. I have had a console or two but I dont want to invest in that ecosystem when pc games work fine for my digital gaming needs. What was the last few digital games I played? In no particular order, Star Wars Jedi Fallen order, Civilization VI, Phasmophobia, Euro Truck Simulator 2, Baldurs Gate 2 Enhanced edition. I have no particular likes or dislikes although I tend to not play first person shooters because they arent that interesting and are kind of repetative in way that other games aren’t. I don’t mind playing them, but usually choose something else.

Boardgames are different, I dont have a community for that any more and I am in the process of pairing down my collection. Trying to make space for more plants and some other more natural hobbies. However, I like games that give me emergent stories.

Miniature games. I don’t paint, I dont play competatively and I usually dont follow any particular rule set, usually the person I play them with and I just make up stuff on the go. I may get more serious about this in the future but I doubt I will every be seen lugging around a 40K army to some table in a game store. I just set up some old x-wing or battletech miniatures and make up things as we go.

RPGs. I had a 5th edition group that I did this with at one point but it’s gone by the wayside. I dont mind DMing though and I do run an occasional Star Trek Adventures session with some close people.

Technology.

I am in Information Technology. Have been for a long time. It is a job, and honestly it was a decision forced upon me by circumstances, so while I don’t begrudge people that love a particular technology or wax poetic over a particular subject, for me technology is a way of achieving a non technology goal. If I talk about it, it will likely be in relation to a particular function I wished to accomplish. So this topic will likely be, I needed to do A, so I had to use B technology. I may talk about information security as well.

Artificial Intelligence

There are doom and gloom people. There are pie in the sky people. Everyone has an opinion on AI. I do too. I’ll tell you about it. I think there are dangers to the use of AI and I think there are benefits, I also think it will fundamentally change our world. I’m interested to see what happens.

Science.

This could be whatever. Medical, astronomy, geology, physics, chemistry. If it can be considered a science and I have something to say about it I will. This is mostly just stuff I find interesting.

Fallacies and misinformation.

Im interested in how people understand what is being said to them and the world around them. I think a lot of people dont really pay attention to the way people mislead them. Hopefully I can discuss this and give you and I some skills to deal with everyday information.

Reviews.

Pretty self explanitory. I’ll give my opinion.

Recipes.

If I cook something and I like it I’ll probably tell you about it. Right now I am working on making a mango salsa. I need to have less onion. 🙂
